Goes Green!

When purchasing textbooks, opt to use your own bag in place of the Bookstore's plastic bags and you can put a special wooden nickel in a pot that represents a five cent contribution the SUNY Orange Bookstore will make to the "Seed Corps" environmental program.

Seed Corps:

"Seed Corps is an international education organization whose mission is to assist communities in creating strong micro-economies through the preservation of existing forests, reforestation  and stewardship, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism and fair trade."

When purchasing textbooks, students may opt to pass on using the plastic bag traditionally provided by the SUNY Orange Bookstore and use their own backpack or tote bag in its place. Each time SUNY Orange students make this choice, a five cent contribution will be made toward planting trees.   Students requesting a bag without making a purchase will be charged five cents which will also be contributed to this cause.  Seed Corps works to establish tree nurseries internationally through schools empowering students to become stewards in an environmentally conscious world.  "Each tree will be tagged, photographed at seed, 4 months and one year and the region will be identified with GPS coordinates.  Check on how tree planting improves the quality of life in these communities beginning in June 2009 at seedcorps.blogspot.com."

The SUNY Orange Bookstore supports this noble cause and wants to encourage us all to make earth friendly choices.    Together we can make a difference!
